The Mangilao Golf Club recognizes the importance of environmental stewardship and has formally adopted the philosophies and guidelines of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System and we have successfully completed the environmental program requirements of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System.
The certification process that took over two years and required us to complete an environmental sustainability in natural resource management and wildlife habitat enhancement planning in six categories:

ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING: A comprehensive written plan outlining the goals and proposed projects. WILDLIFE & HABITAT MANAGEMENT: Management of non-play areas is critical to providing habitat for wildlife on the golf course. Emphasis is given toward maintaining the best possible wildlife habitat. INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT: A comprehensive and responsible program to control pests to ensure a healthy environment for both people and wildlife. WATER CONSERVATION: Conservation and protection of water resources through detailed analysis of the irrigation system, maintenance practices, plant selection, and recapture and reuses of water. WATER QUALITY MANAGEMENT: Strategies devised to protect and monitor water quality. OUTREACH & EDUCATION: Focus on generating public awareness through education. |
Mangilao Golf Club is the only golf club in Guam that has achieved the distinction of being certified by the Audubon International Society.
